Swedish Flat Weave

Signed 'MA'

An open, undecorated field in pale ivory is left almost entirely bare, its surface enlivened only by faint horizontal striations from the flatweave structure. Along both long sides, small chevron-and-bud motifs march in a single file, alternating in red, blue, yellow, and green against olive-toned arrow shapes. A narrow plain band frames the composition top and bottom, finishing in loosely knotted warp fringe, with the small woven initials noted near one lower corner.

An open field of even sage green fills the entire interior, unbroken by any central medallion or ornament. It is framed by a narrow plain green inner guard, then a wide tan border patterned with small triangular and diamond forms in brown and rust, edged by another slim green line, and finally an outer tan-and-brown triangle border repeating the same motif at the perimeter.

Swedish Flat Weave

An open ivory field is framed by a striped brown-and-cream border and divided by two vertical brown lines running nearly the full length. Stepped, key-shaped brown and rust-red devices anchor the top and bottom of the field, each flanked by small geometric bursts in rust, sage green, mustard, and black, while scattered short bars in brown and orange interrupt the plain ground along the sides.

The field presents a stacked sequence of horizontal bands alternating gold-ochre and grey striations, each segment pinched inward at the sides to form a lattice of pointed, arrow-like shapes running the length of the piece. Flanking this on both sides is a border of serrated triangular peaks in mustard yellow, ivory, and warm brown, arranged in a continuous zigzag. The palette throughout stays within ochre, grey, ivory, and brown, with the striped centre and triangular border reading as two distinct rhythms bound by a plain narrow outer edge.

Swedish Flat Weave

A flatwoven ground in unbleached ivory is crossed by an asymmetric arrangement of diagonal and horizontal bands in soft orange, pale yellow, taupe, and charcoal-gray. The composition reads as a series of interlocking parallelograms shifting across the field, with no enclosing border, the design running to the edges and finishing in loose warp fringe at both ends.

Swedish Flat Weave

A long narrow runner composed of horizontal bands in a soft palette of sage green, sand, terracotta, rust, and slate blue. Each stripe carries its own small-scale motif — orange and rust squares, cream cross-and-notch forms, blue interlocking hooks, and dark chevron-like marks — arranged in a mirrored sequence from top to bottom, with plain rust bands framing each end and loose fringe at both edges.

Swedish Flat Weave

A grid of twenty octagonal medallions, each divided into four triangular quadrants shading from ivory to soft yellow with occasional coral-pink accents, set against a warm brown ground crossed by a stepped lattice. A plain brown border frames the field, edged with a thin pale stripe, and initials are woven into the lower right corner near the fringe.
