Tuareg mats are woven of reed and hide in the Saharan tradition, their surfaces built from narrow bound reeds and leather banding that give a low, warm, matt texture quite unlike a pile carpet. Our collection dates from the 1940s through the early 2000s and runs from small mats of around three feet to runners of nineteen, sizes that suit a hallway, a bedside, or a layered arrangement over a larger floor. Each is hand-made and singular, with the irregularity of edge and weave inherent to the craft.
