Aubusson

The field is dominated by a large radiating star burst, its elongated ivory points alternating with shorter blue-gray rays, all converging on a central circular medallion in soft peach and pale green concentric rings. Fine incised lines in rose and ochre trace the length of each point, giving the motif a faceted, sundial-like quality against a muted sand ground. A narrow rose-pink guard stripe separates the field from a plain outer border in a warm taupe-olive tone, and a small woven mark appears in the lower left corner.

The field is filled edge to edge with a dense chevron and zigzag lattice, the diagonal lines interlocking to form small diamonds and stepped triangles across the surface. Pale steel-blue lines thread through a ground of taupe and ivory, with a narrow plain ivory border framing the composition on all sides. The pattern runs continuously without a distinct central medallion, giving the surface an all-over, unbroken rhythm.
