Mohair Carpet

Color: Light Blue

The field is left entirely open, a single expanse of pale blue rendered in a fine, ribbed diagonal weave that catches the light in soft striations. Undyed ivory warp threads emerge at both ends as long, loosely twisted fringe, the only interruption to the plain surface. A close-up inset shows the texture more clearly, revealing flecks of white within the blue yarn and the tight, even structure of the weave.

Mohair Rug

The field is composed of horizontal bands in alternating tones of slate blue, powder blue, and ivory, framed by a plain pale blue border and an outer band of undyed tan. A narrow ivory line separates the inner striped field from the surrounding borders, and the ends finish in loose warp fringe. A detail inset at lower right shows the close, flat texture of the surface where the blue and tan tones meet.

Mohair Rug

A minimalist composition built from nested rectangles: a plain ivory field bordered by a narrow cream line, then a wider tan band, and finally an outer olive-brown border framing the whole. The corners are left simply mitered, without corner motifs, and the ends finish in loose warp fringe. A circular inset at lower right shows a close detail of the surface texture, revealing flecked, irregular striations of cream, tan and brown within the pile.

Mohair Carpet

An open, undecorated field in a heathered oatmeal tone flecked with brown and gray is framed by two concentric ivory line borders set close to the outer edge, with a third, innermost line repeating the same nested rectangle motif. The corners of each border meet in simple mitered joins, and the piece finishes on both ends in a loose, hand-knotted fringe left in the same undyed tone as the ground. A detail inset shows the flecked surface texture up close, revealing the mixed light and dark fibers that give the field its mottled appearance.

Swedish Flat Weave

Initialed: JJ (Judith Johansson)

The field is organized in alternating horizontal bands: plain striped registers in muted grey, taupe and charcoal alternate with wider bands of interlocking diamond and zigzag lattice patterns rendered in rust, burnt orange, mauve and soft violet. A narrow guard border of small stepped hooks in tan, slate blue and brick red frames the composition on both sides, echoing the diamond motifs of the interior bands. Loose warp fringe is visible along the top and bottom edges.

Swedish Rya

An allover field of large lobed medallions in concentric rings of red, rose, and cream alternates with elongated oval forms filled with clustered polka-dot blooms in blue and cream, all set against a golden-yellow ground scattered with small dark green leaf sprigs. Interspersed among these are tall cypress-like sprigs rendered in olive green with dark striations, giving the surface a dense, rhythmic repeat. A detail inset at lower right shows the pile's cut surface and color transitions up close.
