Sigvard Bernadotte is best known for his work designing silver for the Danish firm Georg Jensen. Many of these works are considered twentieth century design classics and are included in the collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the British Museum, and countless other prestigious museums and institutions around the world.

Born in 1916 in Helsingborg, Sweden, Marianne Elisabet Richter was one of six children of a merchant and homemaker, and she found her calling early. She was discovered as a young student and first worked for the Swedish handicraft association in Växjö in her late teens, where she experimented with clay and other media.
