Swedish Pile

An ivory ground carries a symmetrical vertical arrangement of large stylized blossoms—pink asters, a blue tulip, sunflowers, and pomegranate-like forms—joined by curling olive-green stems and leaves. The border repeats a scrolling floral vine on ivory between narrow gold and blue stripes, and the letters "S G" appear woven into the right-hand guard band. Colors throughout are soft: rose pink, cornflower blue, mustard yellow, and olive green against the pale field.

An overall trellis lattice of pale sage-green interlocking quatrefoils fills the field against an ivory ground, each medallion accented with a small mustard-yellow leaf-shaped touch at its center. A plain narrow band in the same sage tone frames the composition, with the flat-woven ivory ends finishing in loosely knotted fringe. The initials appear woven in gray in the lower corner of the field.

The field is organized into a grid of rectangular compartments, each enclosing a stylized fretwork or key motif rendered in alternating sage green, soft gold, and dusty pink against an ivory ground, with each cell outlined by a fine dotted border. A narrow guard band of small linked hooks or ticking marks separates the compartments from the plain sage-green outer border, itself edged by a striped band in brown and cream. The overall composition reads as a patchwork of small framed panels rather than a continuous field.
