Swedish Pile

A pale sage-green ground is scattered in a loose grid with small cross-and-square medallions rendered in ivory, slate blue, mustard yellow, coral red, and dusty mauve. Each motif sits on a short dark stem, giving the rows a flowerlike repetition across the open field, while a narrow striped border in dark plum, ivory, and blue frames the composition. The spacing is irregular in places, with a few motifs shifted off the grid, and the border banding appears only at the top and bottom edges.

Initialed "ah"

Signed "Brita Grahn"

The field is organized into repeating vertical columns of interlocking triangular and diamond forms, each column shifting through soft tones of grey, sage green, straw yellow, and dusty lavender. Fine dotted lines trace the diagonals within the triangles, giving the geometric pattern a subtle textured rhythm. A narrow plain border in slate blue frames the composition on all sides, with a thin dark line just inside its edge.

Swedish Reliefflossa

'Reliefflossa' (knotted pile in relief)

A grid of rectangular compartments organizes the ivory field, each panel filled with a nested-square medallion outlined in soft grey against the pale ground. Alternating bands between the squares carry chevron and zigzag lines radiating outward, while the narrow outer border repeats small square medallions at intervals along its length. The palette stays close to undyed tones, with the grey outlines providing the only real contrast across the surface.

Swedish Pile Runner

A long narrow runner divided into large, sweeping abstract shapes rather than a bordered field and center. Bold curved and angular forms in periwinkle blue-violet, mustard yellow, dark brown-black, and cream interlock across the surface without repetition, creating an asymmetrical composition from end to end. The edges show plain flat selvages with no distinct border framing the design.

Swedish Pile

An overall diamond lattice fills the sand-colored field, each compartment centered with a small polychrome blossom in rust, mustard, teal, and blush pink. The border repeats a related trellis of tiny florets on a soft lavender ground, framed by narrow rust and dusty pink guard stripes. The pattern is dense and regular, running edge to edge without a medallion or open center.
