Aubusson

An overall floral scatter of small pink, white, and pale blue blossoms with leafy green and olive foliage covers the field in tones of straw and honey. Slender tan bands divide the central field into three vertical panels, echoing the concentric framing lines that repeat the same sprigged pattern before reaching an outer border of solid brick red.

A dense field of overlapping palmettes, serrated leaves, and small rosettes fills the dark ground almost edge to edge, worked in crimson, blush pink, olive, mustard, and cream. A pale animal figure, rendered in soft peach and cream tones, emerges near the lower center among the massed blossoms. The ivory border carries a looser scattering of the same floral vocabulary framed by a slim coral outer band.

An open golden ground is scattered with small floral sprays arranged in loose diagonal rows, each cluster combining blue, dusty rose, cream, and pale yellow blossoms with dark grey-green leaves. A larger, denser bouquet occupies the center, slightly disrupting the otherwise regular spacing of the smaller sprays. A plain narrow border in a warmer tan tone frames the field on all sides.

The field is organized into vertical bands crossed by rows of triangular segments that alternate direction to form a chevron-like zigzag running the length of the piece. Colors are rust orange, pale gray, ivory, and taupe, arranged in flat-woven blocks with no surrounding border, the design running edge to edge and finishing in loose ivory fringe at both ends.

The surface is left entirely plain, an open field without border or ornament, built from ridged horizontal rows of thick, nubby loops. Cream-toned rows alternate with narrower bands of charcoal that surface intermittently, creating a soft, irregular striping across the ground. A circular inset at lower right magnifies the texture, showing the rounded, knot-like bumps that give the whole an even, tactile grain.

A close detail view of the surface shows a coarse, nubby texture built up in horizontal bands of thick, rounded knots. The ground is a warm undyed tan, interrupted by narrow stripes of rust orange, deep brown, black, and brick red that run across the width in irregular, uneven widths. An inset magnification highlights the individual knotted bumps and the way the colored stripes sit slightly raised against the plain field, with fine pale threads visible running between the rows.

The field is left entirely open, given over to a dense, looped surface of undyed tones ranging from pale silver-grey to warm taupe. Small flecks of darker charcoal and occasional strands of a lighter, honey-colored fiber break the otherwise uniform texture, appearing almost randomly across the expanse. A detail inset in the lower right highlights the rounded, nubby character of the individual tufts, where the mix of grey and tan fibers is most apparent at close range.

The surface presents an open, undyed field composed of thick, nubby loops arranged in irregular horizontal bands of ivory and taupe. No border or central motif interrupts the texture; the pattern instead emerges from the natural contrast between the lighter and darker tufts, giving an overall speckled, organic appearance. A detail inset in the lower corner magnifies the looped construction, highlighting the varied thickness and soft, rounded shape of the individual tufts.

The surface is worked entirely in undyed ivory tones, arranged in alternating horizontal bands of texture rather than color. Smooth, tightly nubbed rows sit beside stretches of loose, curling fringe that catches the light differently, giving the plain ground a quiet rhythm of high and low relief. A magnified detail in the lower corner shows the fringe's loosely twisted strands set against the dense, looped rows behind them.
