The pattern radiates outward from a small central medallion-like cluster of short vertical marks, giving the impression of a pulsing or breathing checkerboard. An open ivory field is interrupted only by a cluster of overlapping arced and rectilinear forms in charcoal, dark brown, and grey set slightly above center, with thin geometric outlines completing the shapes' lower edges. Two vertical columns of small dashes descend from the upper corners like tally marks, while a horizontal band of parallel stripes in graduated dark tones anchors the lower portion of the field. The field is left wholly open to an allover abstract pattern, with no distinct border framing it. Diagonal, flame-like striations of charcoal and slate gray move across an ivory ground, their edges softened and irregular so the effect reads as a shifting, watery texture rather than a fixed motif. Color throughout is limited to this ivory and gray range, with tonal variation created purely by the density and direction of the striations.

A circular format with a wide, entirely open ivory field left unadorned save for subtle sheen variations catching the light. The border is composed of four concentric zigzag lines in rust, slate blue, pale gray, and dark navy, banded by a plain tan strip on either side that echoes the ground tone. The jagged, saw-toothed pattern runs continuously around the circle without interruption or corner resolution, giving the border a taut, radiating rhythm against the calm expanse of the center.
