Swedish Flat Weave

An open field of even sage green fills nearly the entire surface, uninterrupted by pattern or ornament. It is framed by a slender pair of tan lines set close together, with a wider taupe border running along the outer edge, and the fringed ends left plain at top and bottom.

The field is organized as a grid of horizontal registers alternating broad red-orange bands with narrower stripes of gray, punctuated by small blocks of purple, gold, and near-black. Fine vertical pinstripes cross the entire length, creating a regular checkered division across the surface. There is no distinct border; the banded pattern runs edge to edge, finishing in a plain warp fringe at both ends.

Mat

An undecorated field in ivory-white pile is worked in a subtle high-low texture, with a cluster of raised vertical ridges set slightly left of center breaking the otherwise plain surface. Fine dark flecks run in scattered rows throughout, echoed by a narrow dark selvage at each long edge, while both ends finish in loose dark fringe. The inset detail shows the looped, knotted texture of the surface up close.

The surface presents an all-over grey ground, flecked with irregular touches of darker charcoal and occasional warm brown fibers scattered throughout. Thin horizontal striations of pale, undyed white run at intervals across the field, breaking the otherwise uniform tone. The close-up inset reveals the looped, nubby texture of the surface up close, showing the mingled grey and white strands more distinctly than the overall view.

A plain sample of flatwoven surface in a warm tan tone, its upper portion left open and unadorned, giving way below to a band of vertical ivory ridges formed by a thick, looped texture running in parallel columns. Dark brown fringe finishes both ends, and an inset detail circle highlights the close interlacing of the ivory loops against the tan ground.

The field is composed of narrow horizontal bands alternating between a pebbled, knot-like surface and a smoother, flatter striation, shifting gently between sage green and pale cream. Dark brown fringe finishes the top and bottom edges, left loose and slightly uneven in length. No border is defined; the pattern of alternating textures runs edge to edge across the piece.

    Cotton Flat Pile Mat

A plain-woven fragment or sample in a neutral ivory ground, left largely open with no defined border, framed top and bottom by loose dark brown fringe. Scattered irregular flecks and small nubs in cream, tan, and rust-brown run in loose horizontal bands across the surface, alongside a few thin dark dashes, giving the impression of a restrained, speckled pattern rather than a formal design.
