Hemp and Blue Mohair
The ground presents an open, plain-woven surface in undyed natural tones, its warp and weft left loosely visible so the structure itself becomes the design. Regularly spaced horizontal rows of pale blue tufted knots cross the width at even intervals, standing slightly proud of the flat ground. A detail inset at lower right magnifies the weave, showing the soft blue tufts caught between the coarser strands and a few loose fringe ends along the left selvage.
A coral-red ground carries an all-over lattice of palmettes and cloud-band motifs in ivory, slate blue and olive green, interspersed with small rosettes and scattered dark accents. A gold-ground border of scrolling vinery and lobed palmettes frames the field, flanked by narrow blue and red guard stripes. The palette has softened unevenly across the field, leaving pockets of deeper coral beside areas that have faded toward pink.
A deep aubergine ground centers on an ivory quatrefoil-shaped medallion filled with a naturalistic bouquet of roses, forget-me-nots, and green foliage. Surrounding this, a wreath of pastel ribbon-tied floral garlands encircles the medallion, set within a scrolling acanthus border in tan and cream, the whole framed by a dark charcoal-striped outer band with foliate cornerpieces in each corner.
