Vintage Kilim Composition Pillow

A square cushion with a plain ivory ground bordered by a narrow framing line, its face appliquéd with a fan-shaped arrangement of pentagonal and hexagonal segments in graduated tones of taupe, beige, and warm gray. Each segment is joined with visible blanket stitching in cream thread, radiating outward from the lower edge like an opening fan. The reverse and edges are finished in the same ivory ground fabric with a plain woven trim.

Azilal

An open ivory field is animated by five vertical stems, each rendered in dark brown outline with small feathery leaves in coral, teal, and ochre branching along their length. The stems terminate in stacked diamond and lozenge medallions, the central one enlarged near the lower edge, while a narrow multicolored striped band edges the sides and both ends finish in loose warp fringe.

Boujad

The field is left largely borderless, given over to a loose abstract composition of irregular blocks, chevrons, and zigzag bands in ivory, salmon-pink, and dark brown. Forms shift in scale across the surface, from tight checkerboard passages near the top to broader freehand shapes below, with no symmetrical repeat evident. The ends finish in plain warp fringe, and the ivory ground shows through in patches between the larger brown masses.

Beni Ourain Kilim

The field is composed entirely of horizontal bands in a mottled grey ground, crossed at intervals by narrow stripes carrying small repeating motifs in rust, ochre, and cream. Some bands are plain twists of orange and gold, while others carry fine geometric flecks or diamond forms picked out in ivory. There is no border framing the composition; the striping runs edge to edge, finishing in a loose, undyed fringe at both ends.

Azilal

An ivory ground is divided into three horizontal registers by plain brown bands: the upper and lower sections carry an open brown diamond lattice, while the wide central field is scattered with small angular symbols resembling ladders, arrows, and stick-like glyphs in brown, with occasional accents of blue, green, and orange scattered irregularly among them. The scale of the diamonds shifts slightly between the top and bottom registers, and the motifs in the center are spaced unevenly rather than in a strict repeat. Loose warp fringe finishes the lower edge.

Berber

The field is organized into vertical bands of gray, yellow, coral, and cream, each filled with small-scale zigzags, chevrons, and diamond lattices worked in contrasting tones. Narrow guard stripes with a stepped cross motif frame the composition at top and bottom, while the sides are left plain and finished in long, loosely twisted fringe. The palette throughout is muted—ochre yellow, faded coral-orange, ivory, and warm gray—giving the striped format a soft, worn brightness.

100% Wool

The surface presents an undyed field of thick, irregularly spun tufts in mingled tones of oatmeal, pale gray, and taupe, with occasional darker charcoal flecks scattered throughout. No border or repeating pattern is visible; the texture itself, formed by densely packed rounded knots, becomes the sole visual interest. A close-up inset in the lower right highlights the nubby, pebble-like quality of the construction.

Chevron Design

The field is filled with a continuous stacked chevron pattern rendered in alternating bands of soft caramel-brown and pale ivory, the zigzags running the full length of the piece in tight, even rows. A wide plain border in undyed cream tones frames the field on all sides, its surface left smooth and unpatterned in contrast to the busy chevrons within. The detail inset shows the crisp texture of the pile up close, with the natural color variation between the brown and ivory strands clearly visible.
