Cotton Field & Pile Linen
The field is covered edge to edge with a repeating lattice of interlocking diamonds, each enclosing a small vertical motif resembling a stylized bud or leaf. Tonal shifts between ivory and pale cream give the diamonds subtle definition against the lighter ground, with no distinct border framing the composition. The pattern runs uninterrupted to the selvages, ending in a narrow flat band at each end.

A pale gray ground, striated with fine directional shading, is divided into large angular facets by visible topstitched seams. Three faceted, fan-like forms rise from the lower edge and left side in shades of dark brown, taupe, and ivory, their crystalline points converging toward the upper register where a single ivory shape stands apart from the darker cluster. The composition reads as an abstract, almost geological arrangement of interlocking planes rather than a traditional repeating pattern.
An ivory ground carries an interlocking honeycomb lattice, each hexagon outlined in pale gray with alternating segments picked out in a soft slate blue, giving the pattern a woven, ribbon-like overlap. The design runs edge to edge without a distinct border, the hexagons cropped at the margins so the trellis appears to extend beyond the field. The palette stays close throughout, only the blue accents breaking the overall whiteness.
A plain-ground textile shown in close, raking light, its surface entirely undecorated apart from the subtle grid of horizontal and vertical structural lines that catch the light as the fabric folds. The palette is a narrow range of ivory and pale grey, with tonal shifts created by the draping rather than by any applied pattern. No border, motif, or inscription is visible; the interest here lies purely in the texture and the soft diagonal fall of the material.

Broad bands of natural cream ground alternate with horizontal stripes of deep brown, each brown band edged with a thin line of rust red. A faint dotted gray thread runs just beneath several of the brown stripes, and both ends finish in loose, undyed warp fringe.
