Swedish Pile

An ivory ground is covered edge to edge with tidy rows of small motifs: multi-pointed stars alternating with simple upright tree-like figures, worked in coral red, slate blue, olive green, and brown. A thin blue line frames the field, set within a plain ivory border, and the flat-woven ends finish in short warp fringe.

Swedish Flat Weave

Initialed: 'B. Grahn' (Brita Grahn)

A brown ground carries three vertical columns of stepped, interlocking rectangular blocks in soft grey, sage green, ivory, and brick red, each column reading as a staggered totem of offset forms. The blocks shift rhythmically up and down the height of the field, with small toothed grey elements breaking the geometry along each column's spine. The composition runs plain to the outer edges, with no separate border framing the design.

Vintage Kilim Composition

A twelve-sided format built entirely from triangular segments radiating from a central pointed star. Bands of taupe-brown triangles alternate with ivory ground to form nested star and diamond patterns, growing larger toward the outer edge where the points meet the faceted border. The geometry is precise and symmetrical, with no additional motifs beyond the interlocking triangles themselves.

Baktiari

A golden field is covered in an allover trellis of vinework in rust red, carrying stylized floral sprays and small vase-like blossoms in dusty blue and coral. Multiple borders frame the composition: a narrow ivory band of small blossoms, a wide indigo stripe with rosettes, and an outer rust guard, all bound by a final deep plum edge. The palette throughout stays within gold, rust, ivory, and slate blue.

Laver Kerman

The field carries an allover lattice of pointed medallion forms in muted olive, soft rose, and slate blue, interlocking to form a dense diamond trellis across a warm gold ground. Framing this is a wide border of scrolling floral vine on a deeper blue-gray field, flanked by narrower guard stripes repeating small palmette and blossom motifs. The palette throughout stays soft and tonal, with rust, ivory, and muted violet accents recurring in both field and border.

Tehran

The deep indigo field carries an all-over repeat of small palmettes and herati-like sprays in rust, ivory, and muted gold, arranged in dense diagonal rows across the ground. This is framed by a wide ivory border of scrolling floral vine, flanked by narrower guard stripes in rust and blue holding a repeating rosette pattern, with the corners resolving the design without visible interruption.

Kerman

The field is filled with an all-over repeat of small boteh-like sprays and floral sprigs rendered in muted gold, ivory, sage green, and touches of dusky rose, giving the surface an overall shimmering, tonal effect. A narrow floral vine border in matching soft tones frames the field, echoing the same palette so that the transition between field and border is subtle rather than sharply defined. The corners and border repeat the paisley-and-blossom motif in a slightly denser arrangement, with warm ivory fringe visible at both ends.

Savonnerie

A soft teal-green ground centers a loose bouquet of pink, yellow and white roses with green foliage, echoed by smaller sprigs floating near each corner of the open field. The border is a continuous interlacing ribbon in cream and gold, twined with matching rose clusters, framed by a thin gold guard stripe on both sides.

Soumak Runner

Beige field, camel chevron pattern.

The runner's open field carries a subtle herringbone weave that catches the light in soft diagonal ripples, framed by narrow, deeper-toned side borders that run the full length without corner motifs or medallions. The detail inset shows the surface texture up close, revealing flecks of ivory and grey woven through the tan ground, giving the overall tone a mottled, heathered quality rather than a flat solid color.

Finnish Flat Weave

The field is a plain, softly striated ground in warm taupe and putty tones, crossed by fine horizontal bands of lighter and darker beige created by the changing weft. Scattered across the surface are small, evenly spaced motifs in pale green and cream, arranged in loose rows that read almost like a scattered dot pattern rather than a formal design. There is no distinct border; the field runs to the plain selvage and warp fringe at both ends.
