In today’s market, the terms “Agra,” “Amritsar” and “Indo-Persian” are synonymous with types of highly decorative carpets, which were woven in India during the last decades of the nineteenth century. The art of pile carpet weaving was imported into India by the Mughals, descendants of the Central Asian Mongols, when they conquered the Indian subcontinent in the sixteenth century. Indian decorative carpets continue the Mughal heritage of fine craftsmanship and their designs feature diverse Mughal and international influences.

The Werkstätte’s mission was to break down the barrier between the fine and applied arts to “raise the aesthetic standards of objects of daily use.” The integration of beauty and utility became the Werkstätte’s mantra. In addition, the rejection of hierarchy within the arts and their commitment to craft over machine production linked the Werkstätte’s manifesto to the many reformist and art movements taking place throughout Europe at the turn of the twentieth century.

Kips Bay Decorator Show House 2018 showcases so many wonderful and skilled designers. This year’s 46th annual show boasted 22 design firms and was located at 110 East 76th Street, New York. FJ Hakimian is proud to present three rugs that were incorporated into 2 room designs at this year’s show. The designers we worked with have incredible skills and are in the forefront of today’s modern interior design world.

Carl Einer Andreas Forseth was a Swedish artist, illustrator, designer and painter who was born August 7, 1892 in Linköping , died December 5, 1988 . Einar Forseth is perhaps best known for his Byzantine- inspired gold mosaics in the Golden Hall of Stockholm's city hall,
whose walls are covered with 18.6 million mosaic pieces of glass and gold and Mälardrottningen as well as allegorical figures and fantasies in ultramodern style, completed in the spring of 1923.
