Mohair, Bamboo & More Curtains

Bamboo has become a popular fiber used to create a variety of materials including yarn, cloth, and fabrics. Deriving from the bamboo plant, the fiber is produced by a mechanical process which protects the natural properties of the bamboo more so than other chemically oriented processes. We combine bamboo with other fibers to create various texturing, look, and feel.

In any stage, bamboo is known to have exceptional properties that make it such a unique and versatile textile material that can be utilized by textile artists and designers alike. As a fabric, it has a softness and natural sheen unparalleled by any other fiber that drapes and feels like silk - but is less expensive. A highly durable fiber, bamboo’s structure allows it to repel water faster, be ironed at lower temperatures, and more breathable than materials like cotton, wool, hemp, or synthetic fabrics. Perhaps the most important trait is its high level of absorbency. Bamboo fiber and fabric can absorb dyes faster and more thoroughly than cotton with rich color and clarity.

An eco-friendly and renewable material with a silk-like appearance, bamboo shares some of mohair’s premiere characteristics, including it’s incredibly smooth, luxurious comfort and warmth. This provides the ultimate fusion of fibers, creating a sustainable and tensile material for our handwoven Mohair & Bamboo Curtain Collection.
